Visualization of Association for Continuous Outcomes
The scatter plot suggested a general trend where countries with more hospital beds per thousand people tend to experience fewer new deaths per million. This finding supports the hypothesis that better healthcare infrastructure, including the availability of hospital beds, can help mitigate the impact of the virus and reduce the number of deaths.
However, an exception to this trend is observed in Europe, where countries with a higher number of hospital beds still exhibit a high number of new deaths per million. This discrepancy could be attributed to several factors, such as an older population, a higher prevalence of pre‑existing health conditions, densely populated urban areas, variation in healthcare systems, differences in public health measures and compliance, and the circulation of more virulent virus strains.
